Standard digital evidence is vulnerable to the "Liar's Dividend" and deepfake fraud. The VRA Desktop Auditor is a free, zero-trust, air-gapped tool that lets anyone independently confirm a Truth Packet's cryptographic integrity — that its bytes still match the hash sealed at capture time.
The Mechanics
The cryptographic baseline checks — hash match, manifest chain, embedded EXIF and C2PA — run locally on the bytes on disk, without uploading sensitive evidence to a third-party server. Optional online cross-checks (Arweave permaweb, Command Centre) are opt-in and used only to confirm public anchors.
Checks software origin, hardware integrity, multi-clock temporal timestamps, and chain-of-custody continuity against the sealed record.
Independently recomputes the 64-character SHA-256 signature of the sealed file and confirms it still matches the hash recorded at capture time — a tamper-evidence check, not proof of what the footage depicts.
