Capture-file ownership and licensing

Capture-file ownership and licensing

Audience: clients and independent contractors who need to know who owns a sealed clip.

Owning a capture file (the sealed media + Truth Packet proof) is not the same as owning copyright in the subject depicted. Depicted-subject copyright, privacy, trademark, and personality rights stay with their holders.

The Verified Reality Exchange storefront is launching. Do not treat listings, buyers, or demand as live.

Three tracks (plain language)

  1. Client-funded work. The commissioning client is client of record for that mission’s deliverable, subject to the Client MSA.
  2. HQ-funded internal bounties. Capture-file royalty shares may apply when the asset later licenses. Demand and earnings are not guaranteed.
  3. Solo Mode. The operator acts as their own client and owns the sealed clip and Truth Packet. That still does not transfer depicted-subject copyright. See Solo Mode.

If a capture is later listed on the Exchange, commercial royalties settle at the configured owner / HQ split written when the packet is sealed. Owning the file is not the same as keeping 100% of Exchange licensing revenue.

ATDIL {#atdil}

Eligible captures may be offered for structured, permissioned AI / fine-tuning licenses — not bulk scrapes. Identity mimicry (voice and facial) is not licensed. Demand, buyer terms, and earnings are not guaranteed.

Canonical short answers live in the FAQ (ATDIL and “Is Verified Reality selling bulk AI training scrapes?”).
